How do I apply to take the examination for a contractor's license? The Arizona Registrar of Contractors has contracted with the Experior Assessments, LLC, to conduct the testing required
for a contractor's license. The Experior Assessments Examination Registration Form (included in the Candidate Information
Bulletin), and an instruction sheet, Instructions for Filing Contractors Exam Applications are available for
viewing and printing in Adobe Acrobat Format. You may register for the examination by any of the three (3) following methods:
- Phone: You may call Experior Assessments at (800) 899-4089 between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. (MST) to register for your exam. Please have your Examination Registration Form and your MasterCard or Visa
number available before you call. You can schedule your exam at the same time.
- Fax: You may fax the Examination Registration Form, found in the back of the Candidate Information Bulletin to (800) 347-9242.
- Mail: If you desire to mail your payment, please mail the completed Examination Registration Form with the appropriate fees to:

The form will be processed within 48 hours from the time it is received. [Please allow four (4) to eight (8) days for mail delivery.] You may pay by MasterCard, Visa, money order, company check
or cashier's check. Note: Personal checks and/or cash are not accepted. Currently the proper fees are:
- One (1) examination for either Contractor Business Management Examination or a single Trade Test - $72.00
- Two (2) examinations for the Contractor Business Management Examination and a single Trade Test
- $125.00
- Retake fee for two (2) examinations for the Contractor Business Management Examination and a single Trade Test
- $125.00
- Retake fee for each examination
- $72.00
Scheduling Your Examination Once registered, you may schedule your examination by calling Experior at (800) 899-4089 MST, between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. (MST). An exam registration is valid for 90 calendar days after it has been
processed and will expire without further notice at that time. You may take your exam at any Experior testing center nationwide. Maps to the Arizona testing center are included in the
Candidate Information Bulletin, Experior can provide a complete list of
testing centers and additional maps. Appointments are available three (3) to six (6) days per week at most centers. Schedule your examination early to get your preferred site and time.
If you need to reschedule your appointment time, you must contact Experior three (3) full working days before the day of your appointment to allow time to refill your appointment slot, or you will
be charged a $10.00 reschedule fee. If you are too ill to take your examination at the scheduled time, you may submit a letter from your doctor or hospital (on their letterhead) if you wish the
reschedule fee to be waived. Where examinations are given? Tests are scheduled in Phoenix, Tempe, Flagstaff and Tucson. When a sufficient number of testing applicants request to do so, test dates will be scheduled in areas near the Registrar of Contractors
branch offices. If you desire testing in an area other than Phoenix, Tempe, Flagstaff or Tucson, advise Experior Assessments, LLC, indicating the approximate date and branch office that you prefer.
What does the examination consist of? There are two parts to the examination. All qualifying parties must pass the business management examination. In addition, the qualifying party must, if required, pass a second test covering the
specific trade for which you are applying. To determine if you are required to pass a trade examination, refer to the form License Classification Requirements, RC-L-206B.
What does the business management test cover? The business management test contains questions on state and federal laws and questions on the management of construction projects and business and financial management.
What are the trade examinations like? All trade examinations consist of multiple choice questions. You will be provided with more details on the examination at the time of the test. What can I study to prepare for the tests? The appropriate study guide /content outline will be mailed to you upon submitting your Examination Registration Form to Experior. You may also request a study guide by calling Experior Assessments
at (800) 899-4089; or, you may go to Experior's Arizona Content Outlines webpage to view the study guides online. Study guides are provided by the testing firm with the admission letter and contain the subject areas covered as well as recommended reference books for those who wish to study prior to the
examination. What should I bring to the examination site? You must bring your admission letter and have pictured identification, such as an Arizona driver's license, an identification card issued by the Dept. of Public Safety, or a passport. (Birth
certificates, social security cards, hunting licenses, etc., will not be accepted.) NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE ALLOWED! You may also bring a silent, battery powered or solar powered calculator. No tape producing calculators are allowed. For open book examinations, the testing firm will supply the necessary books. You may not bring anything else into the testing room.
How long does the examination take?
You are allowed 2 1/2 hours to complete the business management examination. The time allowed for each trade exam is 3 hours, except the L-11, C-11, K-11, and A-17 are allowed 4 hours.
How long does it take to get the results of the examination?
Your scores will be computed and given to you the same day you test. What kind of feed-back will I receive about how well I performed on my examination? The score report will indicate "pass" or "fail" with a strength and weakness report, if you failed the exam.
If I fail one or both parts of the examination, can I reschedule?
Yes. The score report will give you information about retaking the examination. There is a $72.00 fee to retake an exam.
If I fail to appear for the examination, can I reschedule?
Candidates who do not appear on the date and time shown on the admission letter will forfeit the exam fee. May I review the test questions after the examination? If you are unsuccessful after two attempts, you may review the last test taken. Examination reviews are offered as a free service. You may bring reference publications to an exam review, but are
prohibited from taking notes. Only one review is allowed. You may schedule an exam review by calling Experior Assessments at (800) 899-4089. Are there any penalties for disclosing the contents of the examinations? Any distribution of examination content or materials through any form of reproduction, or oral or written communication, is strictly prohibited and punishable by law.
